Overview
In this assignment, you will practice using a text-based primary source using materials from UCLA’s Digital Collections, the Online Archive of California, or the California Digital Newspaper Collection. From your chosen archive, spend time looking through the documents and choose one document to read in detail. Think about your document as a historical source; how, why, and by and for whom was it created; and whether there are omissions that might impact its use in answering scholarly questions. In a memo, consider the following numbered questions (with the lettered questions guiding your answers) using between 800 and 1000 words. Attach a copy of your chosen document at the beginning of your memo. You will have to write the memo by answering the required questions in the attached document.
