Apply intervention skill

Overview

Hi, This assignment has two parts. I did the first part, which was recording a role-play. I need help with part two. I will tell you about the intervention that I used in a role play with a client and the client's presenting issue. I will also include below the rubric and instructions for part 2. Two pages is fine. APA format. 4 resources. include the cover pages please.

Client: was a female 15-year-old Hispanic. Presenting issue: The client is feeling sad because she thinks that her friends think she is boring, they don't want to be around her. Her friend got mad at her because she did not want to go out but forced herself to go and ended up being grumpy and not in the mood therefore she felt that she made her friend have a horrible time.

Intervention used during role play: "Opposite action" in DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy)

Role play: This is how I explained it to the role-play client: Opposite Action: is a concept of acting the opposite of your emotions or acting the urge that your emotions have an action urge for example if you are scared you are going to feel like running away. So these are the natural action urges and this can be useful at times but sometimes our emotions either: one don’t fit the facts or 2: acting on that emotion maybe does fit the facts but it would be really not ineffective to go ahead and act on it for example if you are mad at somebody and you feel like punching them on a face maybe its wanted but at the same time it might get you into a lot of trouble so it would be wise to act the opposite of your emotions. So that’s when we use opposite actions. You can use the opposite actions by following the 7 steps:

  • Identify and name the emotion so you have to be aware what is the emotion that your are feeling right now and you are having this action urge for example feeling like punching someone
  • Check the facts and see if your emotions is valid if your intensity of emotion is valid and if it really fits the situation your in fits your feeling,
  • Identify and describe your action urge for example: I am angry and I have the right to be angry and I feel like punching someone in the face.
  • Ask wise mind if I do what I am what I am doing would that be effective or will that get me to my goals
  • Identify the opposite action okay so what is the oppsite of punching somebody in the face? Walking way
  • Act opposite all the way so don’t kind of just like half-ass it like I am going to walk way and go the gym or dance so fully participate and do it whole heatedly as best you can.
  • Reapeat over and ove and over again until you get used to it. So opposite action is about acting opposite of your emotions and eventually change your emotion.

Part 2 instruction: You will justify the intervention selected for the role play recording and write a typed 2- 3-page, double-spaced, paper where you answer each of the items below using your own critical thought, as well as the relevant literature and research. The written assignment should use APA format and have a minimum of 4 scholarly sources. 1. What is the context of the intervention selected? Provide a short description of the client you have in mind – age/ demographics/ presenting issue (no more than one paragraph). 2. What is the name of the intervention selected and for what issues is it indicated based in the research? 3. Is there evidence to support the use of this intervention for a diverse population of clients? If not, how would one need to adapt the intervention to make it more culturally sensitive? 4. Reflecting on the role-play, what elements of your practice do you think you could strengthen and how come? What do you think were your particular strengths?

Rubric:
