Overview
In the previous lab, you developed a research question and then identified a data collection method to investigate your question. In Lab 7, please identify who you would include in your study and how you would select and recruit them.
Complete the assignment by responding to all questions below:
- State your (potentially revised) research question.
- What data collection method (e.g., interview, survey, archival data, experiment, etc.) did you choose in your last assignment (or what is your revised choice)?
- Propose and describe your sampling strategy. In your description, you should address the following questions:
- What is your targeted population?
- Look through the following list of sampling strategies and pick the ONE most appropriate for you.
- Simple Random Sample / Systematic Random Sample
- Stratified Random Sample
- Cluster Sampling
- Convenience Sample
- Purposive Sample
- Snowball Sample
- Define your strategy of choice. How does it work? Use the textbook for an official definition.
- Explain WHY your sampling method is appropriate. Use the decision tree we developed in class.
- Explain WHY your strategy is considered a probability vs. non-probability sample.
- Identification and Recruitment:
- If you chose a probability sample: How would you generate your sampling frame if you had to conduct this study? WHY is that a good choice?
- For example, if you are interested in studying diversity in top-performing firms or businesses, your sampling frame could be the Fortune-500 list, which lists the names of the top 500 US-based companies based on revenue. This is a good way to compose a sampling frame because...
- If you chose a non-probability sample: How would you identify and recruit individuals for your study? Be specific.
- For example, if you wanted to study local Charlotte CEOs, you might start with a family member who is a CEO and who can refer you to other CEO's who otherwise might not respond to your emails. You would give your family member a flyer about your study that they then can share with their friends.
- If you chose a probability sample: How would you generate your sampling frame if you had to conduct this study? WHY is that a good choice?
4. Check for correct spelling and grammar using spell-checking software (e.g., Grammarly). Read your assignment out loud to check for the flow and organization of your thoughts. Make sure you use full sentences when you describe and justify. Use files turned it in reference to this question no ai generated responses.
