Overview
This assignment is designed to enhance your practical skills in client interaction, assessment, and reflective practice, preparing you for effective and empathetic social work.
In this assignment, you will complete the following:
- a video recording of a mock interview with a new client (10-15 minutes)
- a biopsychosocial assessment
- a reflection
In total, you will submit the "Mock Interview and Biopsychosocial Assessment Worksheet" and the “Social Work Informed Consent Form” to fulfill the assignment requirements. Ask a volunteer to play the role of your fictitious client in Topics 2, 5, 6, and 7. Select one of the client options provided in the attached document, “Case Study Client Options.” The volunteer will play the role of the new client using the information from the client option chosen. Video Content: Include the following in a recording (10-15 minutes) of the mock interview:
- Demonstrates coverage of informed consent.
- Demonstrates coverage of confidentiality.
- Demonstrates the use of empathy and motivational interviewing: (open-ended questions, summarization, affirmations, and reflection).
- Demonstrates the ability to assess a client in order to complete a biopsychosocial.
Typically, intake appointments where you complete biopsychosocial assessments in the field can take multiple hours. For this assignment, the abbreviated timeframe of 10-15 minutes allows you an opportunity to demonstrate your skills. It is not expected that your video with demonstrate coverage of all the areas on the biopsychosocial assessment. Note: Review the “I need to upload a Zoom meeting recording to the LMS.
