Frequently Asked Questions
Please let me know if you have questions about this assignment. I will add questions with my answers here.
QUESTION: Can I conduct my interview in another language?
ANSWER: Yes! It is common to conduct interviews in whatever language is best for your respondents. Just note that for our class any materials you turn in will need to be translated to English, so this will involve an extra step for you. If you are transcribing the interview, you'll need to transcribe in the original and then create a translated version. For this reason, if you only do one of your interviews in English, you might choose that one to transcribe for class and summarize the non-English one. And if you are providing quotes in your discussion, you'll need to translate these.
