Overview
You will conduct an interview. The interview should be at least 30 minutes in length and on a topic of your choosing. The interview style should accord with the open-ended techniques we’ve covered in class. Each interview needs to be recorded and then transcribed. In the transcripts I’ll be looking for the fluidity of your interview style (i.e. how one question follows from another) and how responsive you are to your interviewees’ prompts. I’ll also be looking to see how well you made use of ‘probes’ where appropriate. Along with the transcripts please submit a one-page analysis that includes a couple of main insights/findings. Your write-up should refer, in some form, to the methodological issues raised in this course. I’ll also be looking to see how carefully you’ve attended to the distinct language used and concepts generated by your interviewees both in your interviews and in your subsequent analysis.
I’m looking to see how well you’ve employed what we’ve learned in class
In sum, please turn in: 1) One transcribed interview (at least 30 minutes in length) 2) A one page analysis with: a. a couple of main insights/findings b. some reflection on methodological issues (references to course readings are helpful)
You will only be submitting the transcript of the interview it doesnt have to have any audio or video included. Therefore, you can create your own interview and make it as if you actually interviewed somebody as long as it sounds realistic. I will attach the interview questions along with a brief overview of the topic. This interview is to be anonymous so you don't have to include a name. Like i said earlier you can completely make this person up, just make sure "they" are a person of color attending San Diego State University.
