Choose a state that interests you and click it on the map. The hate groups in that state will be shown on the map and in an accompanying list on the bottom of the page.
Evaluate the information provided by the map and list to answer these questions:
- Is there a geographical pattern to the location of hate groups in the state (e.g., are these groups generally located near large cities or smaller towns/suburbs)?
- Are certain kinds of hate groups (e.g., based on religion or race) more prevalent than others for the state you selected? Why might this be?
- Does the information you gathered generally support the sociological notion that there are geographic and demographic deviance hot spots with characteristics including high population density and concentrated poverty? Why or why not?
Record your responses to each of these questions in a short paper.
