ASSIGNMENT:
Everyone has committed deviant acts at some time or other in their life. Discuss an act of deviance in which you were personally involved. What caused you to commit this act? Were there accomplices? Who do you suppose was affected by your behavior? Were you aware that the act was deviant? Did you feel guilty? Did others find out about your behavior? How did they react? Were the agencies of social control involved including police, court, and prison system? What punishments, if any did you receive? Did you repeat the behavior? This essay should be between three and five pages.
Rubric: An excellent paper or one deserving of an "A" grade must:
- Gives a well written account of a deviant episode you would have experienced. 25 points.
- Provides information on: What caused you to commit this act? Were there accomplices? Who do you suppose was affected by your behavior? Were you aware that the act was deviant? Did you feel guilty? Did others find out about your behavior? How did they react? – 15 points
- Provides information on what formal or informal agents of social control were involved and or if any punishment you received. Did you repeat the behavior? – 10 points
