Purpose
This assignment is to help you learn how to think sociologically, both in terms of topic and in terms of methods. It can be difficult to understand the nature of sociological research if you haven't thought through it on your own. We all want answers to big questions, but these can't be done in one study. We do multiple investigations that give us small pieces that we then can stitch together to get the bigger picture. This is what your text and the videos do - pull together a lot of sociological research to tell you a bit about the bigger picture.
Task
This assignment has two parts. You will be revising part 1 and adding part 2. Take a peek at my comments and ask me if any are unclear. Focus your attention on sections where I suggested you add to or revise your answer. This is not only potentially good for your grade, it is good for future work. This is part of learning meta-cognition (thinking about how you think) and can help you work faster and better in the future. This part can be written up in a page or two.
