Jennifer Brown:
White collar crime seems to effect more companies than even I had imagined. It seems like the age old adage of more money/more problems increases due to a lot of factors, unfortunately, including corruption.
It seems as though white collar criminals and your common criminals wouldn't have much in common, but they very much do the same scams, but are different in the fact of the amounts of money lost by victims. The video about the CEOs is kind of strange to me. When I was young no one was ever caught doing something as big as white collar crime. In the last forty years so much has changed. When Martha Stewart went to jail, no drama, she did her time and was productive in jail and a model inmate. People were outraged about it though. How dare she take money from a company for herself? The criticism was thick. But it's not like that anymore.
Martha Stewart isn't seen as a criminal now at this point in her life, but the only real difference between a CFO and small town theif is one's ability to get people to go along with that person's belief.
As far as Trump and his vacating all sorts of criminal's jail sentences, I will say, I wonder how much that person is going to end up costing then in the long run?
