Overview
As you prepare to be a social work leader in the disaster and emergency relief field, you will first need to analyze and understand the complicated interplay of social, environmental, and cultural variables that can impact effective responses in natural, manmade, and complex disasters. Because systemic coordination is important in crisis situations, this assignment will require an examination of the micro, mezzo, and macro levels of an event and provide you with an opportunity to analyze a crisis and disaster event in the United States. You will choose one of two cases to address.

- Begin your search for 4–5 scholarly articles published within the last five to seven years regarding the micro, mezzo, and macro social work approaches to address crises and disasters.

- Why does this case fit this category?
- Provide a micro, mezzo, and macro overview of the social, environmental, and cultural factors that were central in the selected case.
- What ethical issues need to be addressed?
- Analyze the social work roles needed to meet the documented requirements for the selected case.
- What skills need to be engaged for each of the social work roles?
- Assess cultural competence issues when evaluating social work interventions in the selected case.
