The Relationship between Social Media Use and Stress among College Students: The Moderating Role of Social (Annotate)

Overview

Assignment 2: Annotated Bibliography DUE Friday October 24

Begin this assignment with a clear statement of your revised specific research question. Be clear on whether you are pursuing a qualitative in-depth description (of some aspect of the stress concept/process), or you are pursuing a quantitative hypothesis (some type of stress influencing some type of outcome, or some type of social factor influencing stress exposure or reactivity). All of your literature MUST include your concept(s), and should either be all qualitative or all quantitative.

While this text will not be included in your final written paper, it is helpful to briefly annotate each of the minimum ten empirical studies that you will analyze and integrate in your literature review so that you can more easily compare the theory and results. Eg.:

1.What research questions or hypotheses did the researchers study? How does this relate to your topic? Identify the theoretical framework of the study.

2.Who did the researchers study and How did they conduct the study? How do the characteristics of the sample (number of subjects, gender, age, ethnicity and social class of subjects) relate to your topic/themes? What research methods (e.g. participant observation study, cross-sectional survey) did they use? How ethical was the research?

3.What did the researchers find? How do their findings (related to their main research questions or hypotheses) relate to your study?

4.Critique – consider both strong points in the article (e.g. large, representative sample, multiple methods, longitudinal) and limitations (i.e., small sample, homogeneous, use of one research method) etc. of the study.

An annotation is typically one-two paragraphs, so include only what is relevant.

You may submit this information in a matrix format if you choose, with each of these points briefly summarized down the Rows and each article across the Columns, like this:

Study 1 Study 2 Study 3 etc. Study 10

Rows: Research Topic, Theory Used, Conceptual Definitions, Hypotheses, Research Design,

Sampling Strategy/Size, Independent Measurement, Dependent Measurement, Control Variables, Sample Description, Analysis Strategy, Findings, Limitations, Ethical considerations, Conclusions
