Overview
Review the following interactive LAVC dashboard data.
Select credit students in the Fall term.
1. Review the LAVC age demographics.
2. Review the LAVC gender demographics.
3. Review the LAVC race/ethnicity demographics.
- Examine trends (changes over time - terms in an academic year or a term year-to-year) for the college.
- State and summarize at least two key findings for each variable/characteristic.
- Compare between groups on a specific characteristic (variable categories, e.g. male v. female, different age ranges, different race/ethnic groups).
- Look at changes over time.
- Do not make assumptions about what the data means (e.g. Causation, correlation).
- Use the data for observations. State the facts.
- What are your thoughts about what you observed?
- Was anything surprising?
- What questions do you have?
- State additional areas of inquiry you might have based on the data.
- Make sure you reference the specific data (e.g. numbers percentages, terms etc.) to demonstrate that you reviewed the dashboard.
- Insert or attach a screenshot of the specific numbers/percentages that you reference in your analysis.
How to use the dashboard for this assignment:
Click on any part of the diagrams to adjust the filters.
Each page (e.g. 4 of 12, 6 of 12 - click in the bottom middle tab) focuses on a different demographic variable or characteristic of the LAVC student population.
