Short Essay Prompt/Question(s):
When reading about racism and criminal justice, and racism at UCLA, what do you notice about the ways that racism can operate within institutions, whether in prisons, policing, or in higher education? Discuss at least three examples of the ways that racism can affect the lives of vulnerable people, particularly vulnerable people of color. Your discussion should incorporate at least 5 of the 6 readings from weeks 8 and 9 (Kelley, Colbert, Nielsen & Robyn, Gurusami & Kurwa, "An Open Letter...", and "May 13, 2024 report..."
Short essays must be a minimum of 800 words (no maximum).
