Introduction

In this assessment, you will select one of the three tests you reviewed in the previous assessments and defend your selection based on a synthesis of your previous research and the application of ethical guidelines and multicultural assessment practices.

Preparation

Download the Assessment 4 Template: Final Analysis of Selected Test [DOCX] and use it as the basis of your assessment. The template contains instructions to guide you through each element of the assessment.

This assessment is a culmination of the previous assessments you have completed during this course and the application of APA ethical principles and multicultural assessment practices. In this assessment, you will select one of the three tests you have reviewed in previous assessments and defend your selection based on the synthesis of your previous research. In addition, you will apply APA ethical and multicultural assessment practices to your selected test and propose steps to adhere to these practices in one's specialization or a related profession.

Instructions

  • Select one of the three tests you reviewed for the previous assessments. Defend your decision to select this test over the other two tests based on a synthesis of all the data and information you gathered on your selected test throughout the course and identify highlights, both positive and negative, both advantages and disadvantages, according to all of the elements researched.
  • Locate research evidence of fairness and test bias for your selected test. If the research or reviews do not address fairness or test bias in any way, then you will need to cite the references you reviewed and note that they were lacking in addressing fairness or bias, drawing appropriate conclusions for when a test is lacking such evidence.
    • Note: The articles you need to complete this assessment should be available inside the library collection. In future courses, you may use the Capella library's Interlibrary Loan service to obtain articles outside of the collection, but you should not have to use the service for this course. In the event that you cannot find articles covering a newer test edition, please refer to List of Tests by Type [DOCX]. Note which tests have been designated as acceptable for searching prior test editions.
  • Identify multicultural assessment practices and guidelines that should be followed when administering, scoring, and interpreting your selected test. You may use the following source or other articles on multicultural assessment practices you have located through your research.
  • Apply APA ethical principles on assessment practices (9.01 through 9.11) to your selected test. For each ethical principle, explain how you would follow each ethical principle if you were using your selected test in your specialization or a related profession.

Note: Be sure to use the Assessment 4 Template: Final Analysis of Selected Test [DOCX].

Requirements

  • Template: Use the Assessment 4 Template: Final Analysis of Selected Test [DOCX] to complete the assessment.
  • References: A minimum of nine references is required for this assessment. These may include journal articles, literature reviews, MMY reviews, and publisher websites. At least three of the nine references must be from peer-reviewed journals. It is likely and appropriate that many of these references and citations were included in one or more of your previous assessments. Alternatively, you may want to supplement your paper with current, peer-viewed journal articles you located after completing an earlier assessment. Those inclusions would also be acceptable.
  • Length of paper: A minimum of nine double-spaced pages of content, not including the title page or references (an abstract is not required).
  • Font and font-size: Times New Roman, 12 point.
  • APA format: Current APA format and style is required throughout. Refer to Academic Writer for guidance on APA style and format.

One example of adapting a test for a multicultural or diverse population would be to translate the test into another language, such as in the article below. When conducting your research for this assessment, review the articles on your test for these types of modifications or other multicultural guidelines or adaptations.
