Overview
For this assignment, I’m doing Week 2 on Moya and Tatum about identity formation and positionality, and the class reading I chose is Beverly Daniel Tatum’s “Who Am I?” which I attached. You don’t need to pick a module or article, that’s already done. All you need to do is find one external scholarly article that connects to Tatum’s ideas, like identity being shaped by society, the looking glass self, or dominant and subordinate identities. Make sure the article is easily accessible, meaning no sign ups, no accounts, and no paid or locked websites. Then write a 1 to 2 page outline that includes a brief explanation of the topic, a clear summary of both the Tatum article and the outside article, and most importantly an analysis of how they relate, differ, or expand on each other. You also need to include a 1 to 2 sentence thesis based on that comparison and add proper citations for both sources. I’ll include the detailed instructions my professor gave and an example outline from a past student, but do not copy anything from the example. Use it only for formatting and structure, and focus on what I specifically want this to be about.
