Lauren Evans:

Yes, I think McDonaldization is a large global phenomenon, but I don't think it's in a uniformed way. George Ritzer argues that the principles behind fast food chains such as efficiency, predictability, calculability, and control are spreading way beyond restaurants. These principles can be seen within our education, healthcare, retail, and online, especially through standardized menus, automated services, and the focus of spread and quantity over quality which shows how these expectations are becoming widespread across all different institutions all over the world. But I don't think these principles are the same all over the world. Depending on the culture, McDonaldization can adapt to fit into local views and values. The idea is present all over the world, but it can be shaped differently depending on what the culture.
