Overview
Hello, I'm requesting you to write an explanatory letter to the academic conduct officer regarding an investigation of academic misconduct. Try your level best to cover all segments, be persuasive, and help me escape academic misconduct.
Here is what they told me>>>>
I am contacting you because an academic conduct referral has been made about the above-named assignment that you submitted as part of your KE207 studies.
The Open University seeks to uphold standards to the benefit of everyone by ensuring students demonstrate academic integrity in their assignments. The University uses software that compares student assignments to an online repository. This includes academic and non-academic documents on the internet, module materials, and current and previously submitted OU assignments.
The software produces a ‘similarity’ report for each assignment that indicates matches between the content of the assignment and documents in the repository. Tutors may also make referrals if during marking they are concerned that academic misconduct may have occurred. The Module Team analyses these reports and refers them to an Academic Conduct Officer for investigation if they have concerns about potential misconduct. As an Academic Conduct Officer for WELS I have reviewed your assignment in relation to the OU’s Academic Conduct Policy and the Code of Practice for Student Discipline. I have found evidence of possible academic misconduct namely Unauthorised use of generative AI or automated tools, section 3.6 in your assignment.
I enclose a copy of your TMA03 with my comments identifying the concerns I have about your work and ask that you explain the following points:
Please explain the overly complex and stylised language in your TMA. This is often used to convey a simple point and is unusual in student work but is in fact a common trait of AI generated text. • Why are there vague mention of learning guides instead of correct referencing conventions. According to your TMA01, you are aware of correct referencing techniques. • Why do some of the concepts you refer to in specific learning guides, do not in fact appear in those learning guides. • Why are the titles of the learnings in your reference list incorrect?
Your opportunity to provide an explanation
It is important that you respond to this letter and provide an explanation for the academic conduct concerns I have raised with you.
You should reply to my letter by email within 10 working days, i.e., by 18th June 2026. If I do not receive a response from you by this deadline, I will proceed with my investigation without this information.
I will assess all the available evidence and determine whether a breach of the Code of Practice for Student Discipline has occurred. If you have breached the Code of Practice, you may receive a penalty. If you have already received a mark for this assignment this may be subject to change following the outcome of my investigation. Support and guidance
I recognise that receiving this letter may be upsetting and leave you in an uncertain position until the case is resolved. If you need support with your wellbeing during this time, please contact your Student Support Team.
Of course I am not British, I am Polish and my spelling can be a bit of miss spelling
Can also be mentioned that I was under pressure because my child was in the hospital
