Overview
Determine the following information for the selected poll results from Polling Report and include your answers in your initial post.
- List the URL for the website where the poll results were listed.
- State the poll question, the sample size n, and the margin of error (also known as sampling error or MoE) for the data.
- State the confidence interval for the selected poll question using the MoE. What does this confidence interval estimate?
- Use the Confidence Interval template to calculate the confidence interval based on the sample size and the number of successes (the proportion you are interested in). Use a 95% level of confidence.
- State the following:
- What is the calculated confidence interval?
- How does this compare to the interval in #3 from the poll's margin of error?
- Discuss potential biases that could skew sampling results.
- Interpret the results of the poll selected using your own words and complete sentences. Note: Depending on the question asked, the poll may have more than one poll result — you only need to discuss one result.
Peer Reply 1:
Choose a classmate's thread. Calculate and state the sample size needed for the given margin of error used by the poll selected by your classmate. Use the Confidence Interval template (found in Unit 6 LiveBinder).
State whether the original poll had enough people surveyed.
Peer Reply 2:
Choose another classmate's thread.
- Choose a confidence level, other than 95%, between 80% and 99.99%.
- State what happened to the confidence interval.
- Did the interval get larger or smaller?
- Explain the change.
