statistical analysis project on a data set of your choosing (ABOVE and attached BELOW with just data)
Intro
– The intoductory section should include a summary of the data set,
why you chose it, what research questions you plan to answer.
– This section should include what statistical concepts you use to answer
your questions and why.
– This section includes the results of your analysis, discussion of those
results and how (if) one result lead to another question or part of the
analysis.
– Your grade will be largely based on the number of concepts you cor-
rectly apply in your analysis. One concept will earn you a D, two a C,
three a B and 4 or more an A.
– Concepts can include but are not limited to: probability (normal, bino-
mial or Bayesian), confidence intervals, null hypothesis tests, goodness-
of-fit test, test for independence, one-way ANOVA and linear regres-
sion modeling.
– This section should include a close examination of your process, any
potential flaws and/or directions for additional research.
– This section includes any computations and data visualizations - even
”dead ends”.
For the computations and visualizations you are free to use any methods you
choose (i.e. pencil and paper, calculator, Excel, R, etc). If you opt to use Excel
or R, you may submit the files used separately and note in the paper something
like - Computations completed in Excel. See attached file ”file-name”.
We will have a few checkpoints throughout the semester to track progress and
make sure you are on track to complete the portfolio.
