Analyze a data set to include the following: (1) Formulate research questions and
hypotheses, (2) Determine the appropriate data manipulation techniques and statistical procedures needed to analyze the data, (3) Run the procedures, (4) Interpret the results, and (5) Write a 5-page research report. Formulate research questions and hypothesis. The written paper should include a specific, explicit hypothesis including operational definitions for all outcomes and explanatory variables. The purpose of the projects is not to assess students’ ability to conduct a literature review; however, enough information on background, methods, and measures needs to be included to justify the proposed research question and statistical approach. Determine the appropriate data manipulation techniques and statistical procedures. The proposal/paper should utilize one of the statistical techniques taught within this course (i.e., linear or logistic regression, survival analysis, mediation analysis, generalized linear models, complex survey techniques, or quasi-experimental inference methods). The proposed statistical techniques need to align with the proposed research questions. Run the procedures and interpret the results. The final paper should include the results from the proposed analyses with accurate interpretation in APA format (or another reputable organization). The formatting applies to the written summary including tables/figure/references. Data from many large, publicly-funded surveillance systems have certain analytical requirements (e.g., analysis using complex survey procedures and suppression requirements). These analytical requirements must be followed as well. Summarize the results. The final summary should be approximately five-pages, not including tables or figures.
