Overview
Having developed a survey instrument by which to collect your data (Assignment #4), you are to conduct a pilot study and write about it. Specifically, you are to:
I.Distribute your questionnaire to 30 people [similar to those you hope to study] and input the data in SPSS. I ALREADY HAVE SURVEY FROM PEOPLE I WILL SEND YOU JUST NEED TO PUT DATE IN SPSS
A.Analyze all variables using appropriate descriptive statistics and present the results. In this case, you will be analyzing more than just the variables you are using to test your hypothesis.
1.For example, for nominal questions (gender, yes/no, multiple choice) - frequencies, percentages, and mode are appropriate statistics to provide.
2.For ordinal questions (Likert scale, ranking, etc.) - percentages, standard deviation, mean, median, and mode are appropriate statistics to provide.
3.For scale questions (fill in the blank numerical questions, like What is your age? or how many times you did something?) - percentages, mean, median, mode, range, and standard deviation, are all appropriate statistics to provide.
B.You should provide at least 2 Tables and 2 Figures accompanying your data descriptions.
C.In your text, highlight the key information in those Tables/Figures.
D.(3+ pages). LOT OF STATISTICS and be sure to interpret what they mean.
A.Analyze all appropriate relationships using inferential statistics and present the results. Include a discussion of the appropriate statistics and variables to be used to assess your hypothesis. At least 2 chi-squares, 2 t-tests and 2 correlations.
1.Review the Inferential Statistics PowerPoint on BlackBoard. Remember when you wrote nominal, ordinal, or scale next to every question in your survey. This is why. Similar to the approach for descriptive statistics, look at your survey and describe your inferential analysis. Describes your 2 chi-squares tests, 2 t-test tests and 2 correlational tests.
a)For example, for your first chi-square, you need 2 NOMINAL questions. Look at your survey and see what questions you have labeled nominal. In this example, gender and a question like, do you use social media (yes or no) would be two questions you could do a chi-square analysis on. Now pick two different questions for a second chi-square and explain.
b)For your first t-test, you need a NOMINAL question AND a SCALE or ORDINAL question. Look at your survey and see what questions you have labeled nominal, ordinal, and scale. In this example, let’s use a nominal question like gender type and an ordinal question like, do you agree or disagree with the statement, I feel good about myself while using social media (using a scale 1-5, Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree). Now pick two different questions for a second t-test and explain.
c)For your first correlational test, you need two SCALE or ORDINAL questions. Look at your survey and see what questions you have labeled nominal, ordinal, and scale. In this example, let’s use a scale question like How old are you (fill in the blank) and an ordinal question like, do you agree or disagree with the statement, I feel good about myself while using social media (using a scale 1-5, Strongly Agree to Strongly Disagree). Now pick two different questions for a second correlation and explain.
d)I am looking for a total of SIX tests to be described.
B.You should provide at least 2 Tables and 2 Figures accompanying your data descriptions.
C.For each statistic provided, answer 1) What is the relationship 2) What is the statistic and 3) What does it mean? Use a minimum of 2 tests for each statistic.
