Short Paper #6: Analytic Strategy Section
Description:
Throughout this quarter you will be working towards a final, and final draft of the quantitative research proposal. These short paper assignments break this final project into smaller bit size pieces. They also provide an opportunity to receive feedback from the professor and colleagues. It is expected that your short paper ideas will evolve over the quarter and that the feedback you receive will help strengthen your overall final proposal.
For this short paper you will develop a 1-2 page summary of your study protocol section of your final proposal. This section should mirror the analytic strategy section of a published article. Each study will vary greatly in the length and content of this section. We will discuss in class what criteria is applicable to your study. But in must cases the protocol section includes the following:
- Collection and Management of the Data
- Clean and prepare the data for a planed analysis
◦Assess missing data
◦Formation of variables (if not already stated in the measures section)
◦Provide descriptive stats associated with the study sample (if not already covered in the sample section)
- State the planned analysis/analyses
- Report the assumptions associated with the planned analysis and report the study data characteristics
◦If data did not pass the assumption screening/testing, what will you do?
Review the grading rubric for direction on what elements are necessary for this and the final draft of the proposal.
