Theobald and Freeman (2013) make a case for the use of multiple linear regression in experimental research when participants are not randomized in the control and treatment groups. Their article suggests that research failing to consider participants’ identity differences and characteristics can lead to erroneous conclusions. Is the consideration of individual characteristics a concern in non-randomized studies only? Should the consideration of individual characteristics be a concern in randomized studies as well?
