Overview
More than ever before organizations are using SPC to improve quality and efficiency and reduce costs. The main objective for this project is to gain experience on how organizations apply multiple SPC tools to achieve an objective. More importantly, it allows you, as the student, to expand your knowledge on how to use these tools collectively to a improve quality and/or efficiency and reduce costs.
STEP#1: Finding an article
You must find a paper or detailed article that utilizes multiple SPC tools to achieve an objective.
STEP#2: Reading your article
Thoroughly read the paper, this may require you to read it multiple times. What was the problem, why did they conduct the study? How did they conduct the study. What tools did they use? How did they analyze the data (problem)? What were the results? What were the limitations, and conclusion? Remember, statistical analyses in the Results section are always followed by a description of what the numbers mean in plain English. Don’t skip the results!
STEP#3: Writing your summary and analysis
Your summary and analysis should not exceed 4 pages, double spaced, in 12pt. Times New Roman font. Your paper should include your full first and last name and title of the paper. Your paper should then include the following information:
● Summary: What is the problem or research question inspired the study? What methods were used to investigate the topic? What were the most notable results? What implications do the results have for others who are experiencing a similar problem?
● Analysis: How were the SPC tools used collectively to solve the problem? In what way did each tool help? What were the main strengths of the article? What did you think the authors did especially well in describing or analyzing their results? What lingering questions do you have?
Include the full reference for the paper you are analyzing at the end, in proper APA or MLA format. You do not need any additional citations for the assignment and this reference is not included in your page requirements.
