Overview

ANSWER ALL THE QUESTIONS, EVERYTHING THAT IS BEING ASKED AND PROVIDE THE SCREENSHOTS ASKED TO SHOW THE FORMULA AND HOW YOUR WORK WAS CARRIED OUT:

USE THIS DATA SET- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1qs78yoyw3Ra4nlkC_vIOn1Siu1tkKM6_/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=109799726061812424880&rtpof=true&sd=true

QUESTION #1: The variable in Data 3.46 is "number of pups borne in a lifetime by each of 80 Great White shark females". Find the mean, median, and mode of the variable using Excel. How do the mean, median, and mode vary from one another? What does this indicate about the shape of the variable?

QUESTION #2: Using the same data, find the mean, median, and mode of the variable using SPSS.

QUESTION #3: Use SPSS to create a boxplot of the variable. What does the boxplot indicate about the shape of the distribution?

QUESTION #4: Find the range and standard deviation of the variable using Excel. What does this indicate about the variability of pup litter sizes?

QUESTION #5: Find the range and standard deviation of the variable using SPSS.

PART 2- WEEK 6:

QUESTION #1: There is a distribution with a mean of 6 and a standard deviation of 1.7.

In Excel, find the area of the curve that lies to the left of x = 5.

Find the area of the curve that lies to the right of x = 4.5.

Find the area of the curve that lies between x = 3.5 and x = 4.2.

Find the area of the curve that lies to the left of z = 1.5.

QUESTION #2: For the same distribution, in Excel, find the value of x that has a percentile rank of 82.

Find the value of x for which 27% of the distribution is equal to or below this value.

Find the value of x that cuts off the top 34% of the distribution.

Find the values of x that separate the middle 50% of the distribution from the rest.

Find the value of z that has a percentile rank of 68.

QUESTION #3: USE THE LINK TO THE DATA SET- https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17KSmNfBOo0HiZOyK0PmB0Q7uWxX4UHCV/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=109799726061812424880&rtpof=true&sd=true

Use Data 6.134 to construct a normal probability plot in Excel. Do you notice an outlier? If so, remove the outlier and create a new normal probability plot. How do the two plots differ? Do you think this variable is normally distributed? Why or why not?

QUESTION #4: Use the same data to construct a normal probability plot (Q-Q Plot) in SPSS without the outlier.

QUESTION #5: Using the same data set, carry out the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test of normality in SPSS without the outlier. What do the results tell you about whether this variable is normally distributed?

QUESTION #6: Using the same data set, find the skewness and kurtosis of the variable. What do these tell us about the shape of the distribution of the variable?

PART 3: WEEK 14:

USE THE FOLLOWING DATA SET LINK: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1CHFXOnQb8gt5E1sqIXJ-mF3t-VTHpPxw/edit?usp=drivesdk&ouid=109799726061812424880&rtpof=true&sd=true

QUESTION #1: Use Data 9.86 to carry out a one-sample z-test in Excel at 5% significance. These data represent the age of diagnosis of a sample of people with early-onset dementia. Assume that the sample standard deviation is 6.8. Determine whether the population mean age of diagnosis of people with early-onset dementia is less than 55 years old.

(Make sure to include all steps of the hypothesis test in your answer in addition to including the screen shots). That is, be sure to state the null and alternative hypotheses, the value of alpha (significance level), the p-value of z, your decision about the null hypothesis, and the interpretation of your decision).

QUESTION #2: Problem 13 in your book (p. 329) states:

Based on information from the National Cyber Security Alliance, 93% of computer owners believe that they have antivirus programs installed on their computers. In a random sample of 400 scanned computers, it is found that 380 of them (or 95%) actually have antivirus programs. Carry out a one-proportion z-test (at the 5% significance level) in Excel to test the claim that 93% of computers have antivirus programs.

(Make sure to include all steps of the hypothesis test in your answer in addition to the screen shots).

QUESTION #3: Using Problem 13 again, carry out a one-proportion z-test in SPSS. You do not need to repeat all of the information about the hypothesis test here.
