Overview
- You are expected to solve these problems using software.
- For this assignment you are required to use: Excel (including the Analysis ToolPak), Jamovi, or Minitab.
- Note that Minitab is the best/ most efficient software to use for DOE models!
- In addition, you must provide a by-hand solution for the primary F tests in each model.
- Note that this documentation will follow similar expectations to previous Devore/WebAssign assignments.
- The purpose is to demonstrate that you understand how these computations work.
- Short-hand notation is acceptable including demonstrating repetitive calculations only once.
- Please contact me if you have any questions about the level of detail or scope of the by-hand solutions.
- Note that this documentation will follow similar expectations to previous Devore/WebAssign assignments.

Complete the following four problems from the Montgomery textbook:
Note that these problems are loosely structured and you are expected to complete a full analysis including evaluating model validity and reliability as well as identifying optimal conditions.
- Ch. 6 Problems 6.12 & 6.22
- Ch. 7 Problems 7.1 & 7.3
For the other editions of the textbook, the question numbers are listed below:
- 9th ed. 6.12, 6.28, 7.1, 7.4
- 8th ed. 6.8, 6.24, 7.1, 7.4 (the problems from Ch. 7 refer to Problem 6.1)
Submissions must include:
- Hand-written solutions to the primary F tests in each ANOVA model
- Note you do not need to complete supporting analysis (e.g., Tukey/Fisher test, power analysis, etc.) by hand.
- Annotated software solutions for the entire problem
- You may use Excel, Jamovi, or Minitab for this assignment - all other software must be approved by the instructor (contact via WebCourses for approval).
- 'Annotated' refers to additional labeling and brief statements that provide explanations, reflection, etc. from the analysis.
- Each question part must be clearly labeled.
- Each question part must have at least one written statement that addresses the question asked (e.g., is the test significant?, etc.).
- A brief technical report summarizing the findings and directly answering the questions in each problem.
- The report is limited to one page per problem
- Results for each problem cannot exceed one page and each problem must begin on a separate page.
- The report must provide a narrative (summary and discussion) of:
- The approach that you chose (and why it is appropriate)
- The results and conclusions
- Note that you do not need to include all figures/tables in this report - this information should be stored in your results/output file.

And for this one: You are expected to solve these problems using software ONLY! rather than solving by-hand. - For this assignment you are required to use: Excel (including the Analysis ToolPak), Jamovi, or Minitab.

- In addition to the stated objectives (a and b), also address the following:
- (c) evaluate (and identify, if possible) the optimal condition
- (d) evaluate the statistical power of this test
- In addition to the stated objectives (a and b), also address the following:
- 4.11
- In addition to the stated objectives (a, b and c), also address the following:
- (d) evaluate the statistical power of this test
- Note, you may use any multiple comparisons tool that is appropriate (Tukey, Games-Howell)
- In addition to the stated objectives (a, b and c), also address the following:
- 5.12
- Do not complete Part B (fit a model) - we will focus on this part of the modeling later in the semester!
- In addition to the stated objectives (a and c), also address the following:
- (d) evaluate (and identify, if possible) the optimal condition
