Requirement:
The project should be at least 6 pages long. APA style. Typed. Double spaced, font at 12.
The project should have the following elements (Please list each element as a sub-headline)
1.Introduction ( Why you chose this topic, and background information)
2.Sample and population
3.Hypotheses (Ho and H1); Please also list Ho and H1 in statistical terms.
4.Method and technique used
6.Summary and discussion in detail
7.How your project is going to serve others better(Christian Servant Leadership)
8.Future implications for using statistics
Notes: Raw data file in excel, use Excel or PHstat for tables and graphs, and hypothesis testing.
Or you can conduct the test by calculator by hand.
Everyone will do a presentation(2-4 minutes) about your final project in class on Dec. 2.
The final project will be due on Dec.9 at noon (Graduating seniors' final project will be due on Dec.11 at noon).
Presentations will be presented in teams with one PPT per team, each individual presenting 2-4 minutes, with no less than 6 minutes, no greater than 14 minutes per team total.
You will be graded on the following areas:
- Content
- Stat. techniques used
- Technology
- Audience
- Creativity
Method and Technique Used
Two statistical procedures will be applied:
1. Independent Samples t-Test
This test compares group mean differences. The formula is:
t=Xˉhigh−Xˉlowsp1nhigh+1nlowt=spnhigh1+nlow1Xˉhigh−XˉlowWhere:
- XˉhighXˉhigh = mean satisfaction score of high addiction group
- XˉlowXˉlow = mean satisfaction score of low addiction group
- spsp = pooled standard deviation
- nhighnhigh, nlownlow = sample sizes
Pooled variance is computed:
sp=(nhigh−1)shigh2+(nlow−1)slow2nhigh+nlow−2sp=nhigh+nlow−2(nhigh−1)shigh2+(nlow−1)slow22. Pearson Correlation
This determines the degree to which addiction score predicts relationship satisfaction:
r=∑(Ai−Aˉ)(Si−Sˉ)∑(Ai−Aˉ)2∑(Si−Sˉ)2r=∑(Ai−Aˉ)2∑(Si−Sˉ)2∑(Ai−Aˉ)(Si−Sˉ)Where:
- AiAi = addiction score for student i
- SiSi = satisfaction score for student i
All computations will be completed using Excel and PHStat.
