Primary Charts Needed (Interrupted Time Series Line Graphs and such)

Overview

I am tryin to gather more data for my dissertation. using the template I need some of these charts created, I will need the word and excel showing where the data came from

Primary Charts Needed

Interrupted Time Series Line Graphs: These are the essential charts for an Interrupted Time Series Analysis (ITSA).

Counterfactual (Forecasted) Lines: Within the ITSA line graphs, you should include a "counterfactual" or "forecasted" trend line (often dashed).

Supporting Visualizations

Descriptive Statistics Graphs: Initial exploratory analysis would benefit from other charts to understand the data's characteristics:

Geospatial Visualizations (Heatmaps): If you are using data with spatial dimensions (e.g., county-level data within each state), a heatmap can be effective to show "hot spots" of crime and how these locations changed in response to containment measures (e.g., crime moving from public spaces to residential areas).

Necessary Charts

Comparative Interrupted Time Series Line Graphs: These are the primary charts needed.

Bar Charts/Histograms:

Use of Age, Race, and Sex Data

Yes, data on the age, race, and sex of criminals and victims would be good and valuable additions to your analysis.

This demographic data could be used in several ways to enhance your study:

Stratified Analysis: You could create separate sets of the primary line charts for different demographic groups. For example, you could compare the impact of the containment measures on:

Control Variables/Covariates: The demographic data can be incorporated into the statistical models (segmented regression) for the interrupted time series analysis as control variables or covariates. This would help to ensure that any observed changes in crime patterns are due to the COVID-19 measures and not pre-existing demographic trends or differences between Florida and New York.

  • Stacked Bar/Area Charts: If focusing on composition, stacked area or bar charts could show how the proportion of crime demographics changed over time, though line charts are better for emphasizing overall trends.
