Introduction
Each section of your paper should have a heading and should be center justified. All papers should include an introduction paragraph which tells the reader what you are writing about and/or the purpose of your paper. At the end of your paper there should be a summary paragraph where the major thoughts/concepts of your paper are summarized.
In-Text Citations
Anytime you reference ideas or content form another work, you need to provide an in-text citation which will correlate to a work on your reference page at the end of the paper. This citation will be in the first sentence which begins to reference that work and includes the author’s last name and the date of publication. There are two basic ways to accomplish this:
According to Morton (2016), the author’s name can be included in your sentence which would be followed by the year of publication in parenthesis.
It is more common to just include the author’s name with the year of publication in parenthesis (Morton, 2016).
In-Text Citations
For works with three or more authors, the first time the ideas are referenced you will need to include all the names in your citation (Morton, Packard, & Johnstone, 2017). Any additional references to that work may be cited without all the names (Morton et al., 2017).
It is my expectation that you will be citing references from peer reviewed journal articles found in the Kaplan library. No online sources or webpages will be accepted as references.
