Writing Question

Final Exam (Reflection) Instructions

Audience: Future students enrolled in UCWR 110

Format: Essay

Essay Length: 2 pages

Percentage of the Final grade: 5%

Due Date: Your final exam(reflection) is due on Sakai by 04/30/2026, Thursday @1:00 pm. There will be NO extensions, and I will NOT accept late assignments.

What advice do you have for my future UCWR 110 students in the coming semesters? Which relevant experiences have you had this past semester that they should know about? Keep in mind that they will not read the same essays as you did, but they will be writing papers following the same progression: they will write their summary, analysis, and synthesis essays on assigned texts, and then they'll write a researched argument on a topic of their choice.

With this audience in mind, you will write a reflective essay that examines your own experience with writing, critical thinking, and reading as a student enrolled in UCWR 110 this semester. You will write either an argument or a narrative. For an argument, write a paper structured as: intro with a thesis statement about your experience in UCWR 110, body paragraphs in support of that thesis, and a conclusion that ties it all together. For a narrative, write an essay in first person with you as the narrator/protagonist who faces and overcomes new challenges as a student enrolled in UCWR 110. You may also write a narrative in second person, addressing the imagined student enrolled in the near future.

You could illustrate one or more of the following: How has your process for planning, drafting, and revising essays developed over the semester? What improvements do you think you made in your process? What strategies brought good results, and which ones backfired? What improvements do you think you made? How has your writing/critical thinking changed and why, compared to your habits prior to this semester? What aspects or concepts of drafting and writing do you pay more (or less) attention to? Along with your analysis of how your thinking, reading, and/or writing has developed, you should also discuss what readings, discussions, or activities in class made the most impact on you and why.
