Time Management

Overview

  • Your initial post should be at least 300 words in length
  • Post 2: Response post to a classmate is due by the end of day on Tuesday.

Post 3: Response post to a second classmate or the instructor’s follow-up question is due by the end of day on Tuesday.

**Importantly, your first responses will be graded.**

  • Feel free to post more responses to classmates as you read, reflect, and contribute to our discussion.
  • I thought it might be helpful to discuss time management and study strategies for not only this course, but classes in general. I imagine most of us are juggling multiple responsibilities and activities, including work, family, friends, household chores, sleep, relaxation, etc. So, how do you approach your studies while maintaining everything else?

I appreciate the frustration and exhaustion we all feel when our plates are too full; however, please limit your discussion post to share successful strategies and approaches and provide motivation for your classmates. If you're struggling with time management, please share what you would like to implement or have heard works for others.

Please be sure you answer all components to prevent losing points. Your entire response should be in 1 post.

In your response to another student's original post, please refrain from submitting “I agree” replies that essentially restate their post. Substantive points will be deducted for restated replies or thoughtless/non-specific responses. Please review the How to avoid a low discussion board grade Announcement for further guidance.

Please note: APA format and references are not required for discussions, unless you are referring to published information. This is a college-level course and I expect all posts and replies to be written in complete sentences using proper grammar, punctuation, and spelling. Thus, please proofread and spell check to prevent losing points,

For me, balancing two full-time jobs along with the degree program I am here for and the Critical Care class has been tough. I have two young children as well. I try to do assignments ahead of time while at work in my free time. I am finding a lack of motivation and have begun to question the choices. I do feel that breaking up my workload is helping me. We are all working adults here, whether it be in the workforce or a stay-at-home parent; we have all decided to go on this journey to better ourselves and our families. I feel that if I start managing my time more wisely, I will make everything work. Being able to see everyone's journey and knowing none of us are doing this alone makes this easier. I do feel that, besides working ahead, and doing what I can at work is a good strategy so far. Motivation is all about what you want to accomplish in your life. Whether you are doing this for yourself or your family. We are all striving to better our current situations. Everyone works at their own pace through life, so why don't we all slow down, take a breath, and keep moving forward. Remember, we are all successful in our own ways, and we need to be proud of ourselves for deciding to go to college. Good luck, everyone, and I cannot wait to see everyone's posts and learn new ways of staying motivated.

Time management is one of the hardest things about going back to school for me. I have not had a class since highs school. That was about 15 years ago now. Not only am I getting used to having classes again, but now I have a lot more responsibilities than high school me. I had my first child so now I have an 8-month-old son that takes up most of my time when I am not at work. I also work as a firefighter/paramedic. I work 48-hour shifts and you never know with you are getting a call. We are a pretty busy fire district so there is not much sleeping in my life right now at work or at home. This causes a lot of stress, and my motivation struggles from it. I also just bought a new home. This brings a whole new stress and A LOT more things to do. This being said, these are also my motivators. Going to school is going to help me advance in my career. This would help with the new home and everything that comes with it. But the biggest motivation is looking at my son. Just knowing that this will help me to be able to provide for him and give him what he needs/wants is a great feeling. When I do have time to focus on school I really buckle down and do as much as I can
