Overview
****** Topic: Habitat (Polar Ice), Organism (Polar Bears) *******
______________________________________________________________________________________________
What to discuss:
You will want to give an overview of your habitat, including geographic locations, physical parameters, key features, and how humans and climate change are impacting the habitat worldwide. Then, you will choose a single organism from the habitat, and detail its biology, ecology, and what impacts humans and climate change have on the organism.
What resources to use: You must use a minimum of 3 primary literature articles—1 for the habitat and 2 for the organism. These would give you current information on experiments, studies, and models looking at the habitat and organism. You want to mention specific data found in those papers. You may use as many secondary sources as you want; but they must be reputable sources. You are NOT allowed to use any encyclopedias of any kind. You may use your textbook (or other textbooks), websites, and review articles. Primary literature sources must be no older than 2010; secondary sources should be as recent as possible.

Assignment Instruction:
Part 1: The Resources
You will hand in an annotated bibliography about your **3 primary literature articles, and 3 of your secondary sources**. For each source, you will provide the following information. You MUST be able to access the ENTIRE resource. Primary literature sources must be within the past 15 years (2010-2026). Secondary sources should be as recent as possible, and from reputable sources.
For each source, give the:
- Title of article/ website/ book
- Full citation (MLA or APA citations are accepted)
- Link to resource. Attach the PDF of the full article.
- Brief summary of resource (5-6 sentences)
- Three pieces of evidence from the source you will use for your presentation {these should be paraphrased from the source, with the location (page #) you found the info on in the source given}
Part 2: The Presentation.
Using PowerPoint/slides you need to include the following information in the presentation:
- Description of the habitat- location, animals/plants found there, physical characteristics
- Impacts of climate change or anthropogenic activities on the habitat
- Specific organism you chose- biology & ecology of the organism
- How the organism helps (or hurts!) the habitat
- Role of the organism in the habitat and how the habitat functions (i.e., food webs, ecosystem engineers, predators)
- Impacts of climate change or anthropogenic activities on the organism
You must include at least 2 pieces of data from primary resources (graphs, etc). You must mention (and cite!) all 3 primary resource articles, and a minimum of 3 secondary sources. You can add additional sources- primary or secondary- as you see fit.
