Major Project: Financial Projections
1-Create Pro-Forma Financial Statements
Use the Excel Spreadsheet Template provided to create 12-month monthly projections and a 5-year summary.
Include:
- Profit and Loss Statement (Income Statement)
- Balance Sheet
- Cash Flow Statement
2-Financial Analysis
Using your financial statements, analyze your business’s potential performance over the next five years. Address the following questions:
- Profitability Outlook:
Based on your financial projections, will your business remain profitable five years from now? What assumptions did you make to support this conclusion (e.g., pricing, sales growth, cost control, market conditions)? - Breakeven Analysis:
What is your breakeven point — the level of sales at which your total revenue equals your total expenses? How does this inform your short- and long-term pricing or cost management strategy? - Revenue Seasonality:
Every business experiences seasonal fluctuations. Based on your projections, which months represent your best and worst revenue periods? What factors (internal or external) contributed to these variations, and how are these trends reflected in your Profit and Loss (P&L) statement? - Strategic Decision Point:
Considering your five-year model, would you choose to keep, scale, sell, or exit the business? Justify your decision using financial and strategic reasoning. - Growth and Improvement Strategies:
What specific financial or operational strategies could improve your projections, strengthen profitability, and ensure long-term sustainability? Consider areas such as pricing, cost efficiency, diversification, or investment.
3-Summary and Conclusion
