Group Discussion – Instructions
This activity is labeled as a Group Discussion, but participation will occur at the individual level. The objective is to collectively deepen understanding through structured academic dialogue.
Step 1: Initial Post (Required Before Viewing Others)
Each student must submit their own individual response first before viewing classmates’ posts.
Requirements for Initial Post:
- 400–600 words
- Address all parts of the discussion prompt
- Demonstrate critical thinking and managerial reasoning
- Use course concepts where appropriate
- Must be original, independent work (no collaboration)
Posts that are vague, descriptive-only, or superficial will receive reduced credit.
Step 2: Peer Discussion (Required)
After submitting your initial post, you must engage in group discussion by responding to at least TWO classmates.
Requirements for Peer Responses:
- Each response: Atleast 100 words
- Must be analytical and thoughtful
- Go beyond agreement/disagreement
- Provide critique, extension, or alternative interpretation
Strong responses typically:
- Challenge assumptions
- Identify strengths/weaknesses
- Extend the argument
- Connect to course concepts
- Offer a different managerial perspective
Weak responses include:
- “I agree”
- Repeating what your peer said
- Surface-level comments
Evaluation Criteria
Your grade will be based on:
- Depth and quality of your initial analysis
- Evidence of critical and managerial thinking
- Conceptual clarity and logical reasoning
- Quality of engagement with peers
- Professional and clear communication
Important Notes
- You must complete both the initial post and peer responses to receive full credit.
- Late participation reduces the effectiveness of discussion and may impact grading.
- Treat this as a professional graduate-level academic discussion.
