Group Discussion: Week 2 (due Friday/Sunday)
As part of this week's discussion:
- Post your initial response to the prompt by Tuesday at 11:59pm (15 points)
- Respond to 2 of your classmates by Sunday at 11:59pm (10 points)
Discussions are two part. Failure to post your initial participation discussion response by due date will result in 0 grade for that discussion.
Your initial response should go beyond simply answering the prompt and allow for continued discussion. After you post your initial response, remember to individually respond to 2 of your classmates by the due date. Your responses should be thorough, expand on their initial post or ask a clarifying question, and continue conversation in order to receive discussion response points.

PROMPT: Clearly answer all questions.
The major project for this class is a full-scale, formal analytical business research report. Unless another topic is approved by prior to your initial post being due on Tuesday, you will do a Career Exploration Report. The career is your choice. You will choose an industry you hope to go into and research three jobs that interest you while analyzing salary, market changes, potential problems, degrees required, etc. Essentially, you are looking at the overall outlook of the industry and/or jobs. Maybe you aren't sure what you want to do after college, compare three jobs that interest you from various industries. Or if you are in industry, how to do you get the promotion you've been wanting (choose 2-3 positions you would want to move into)?
- Example 1: Marketing Industry - researching a job in media sales, social media marketing, and marketing analytics
- Example 2: Comparing and contrasting working in Accounting, Finance, or Operations
- Example 3: Five year outlook of teaching and teaching jobs in Michigan
These are a few examples. This assignment is a requirement for the course to transfer. By doing a career exploration report it adds value for you and your future career.
Each week, we will master components of the full report so that you will be prepared for the larger submission. For this discussion you are adding your topic idea and a description of why you chose that topic. On Sunday you will submit your workplan (paper outline) of your topic.
PROMPT INSTRUCTIONS
- Type your Career Exploration topic idea and description of why you chose that topic. Don't overthink your topic. Think of an industry you would love to work in, and then pick three jobs from that industry to research. Example: You have always enjoyed studying math, so you'd like to explore careers in engineering.
- Once your have posted your initial post, respond to 2 of your classmates in a thoughtful way that continues conversation by Sunday at 11:59pm.

Make sure that the topic is of interest to you, as you will be spending a lot of time researching, writing, and presenting on this topic
