FSCTC A Layered Approach to Security Discussion

Overview

I'm working on a engineering discussion question and need an explanation and answer to help me learn.

You have to watch the talk "Cyber War, Cyber Peace, Stones and Glass Houses" and do the following:

In our lecture on Physical Security, we discussed a ‘ringed’ or ‘layered’ approach to physical security in which an intruder would have to defeat multiple security mechanisms in order to compromise information security.    Later in the term, when we study network security, we will see that this layered approach is often taken there.    In his talk “Cyber War, Cyber Peace, Stones and Glass Houses,” Gary Morris presents a contrary viewpoint and argues that in many cases, a layered approach can be defeated by a single disruptive technology.   Morris argues that security should be built in to the design and development of software, rather than be thought of as a separate function.
