Overview
Hi. This needs to be a high level writing that will be presented to Endocrinologists. NO AI and NO PLAGARISM PLEASE.
Once you have finished brainstorming and thinking deeply about the different perspectives surrounding your chosen dilemma, including carefully researching what other scholars/voices have to contribute to the discussion, address the following question in a focused five-page paper (1 cover page with materials as specified below + 4 page essay).
PROMPT
On the whole, which side of your dilemma has the stronger arguments to support it?
Page 1 of your final assignment should be single-spaced and include the following:
(1) Put your name etc. on the top left (see syllabus)
(2) Type "Assignment 1" (centered)
(3) Dilemma:
(4) Professional Audience:
(5) List of your final points on one side (one sentence each):
(6) List of your final points on the other side (one sentence each):
Begin your four-page essay (double-spaced) on the next page.
As per the syllabus, include the following guarantee of authorship after your paper (before or after the Bibliography):
"I promise that this paper is an original work written by me and created specifically for this particular assignment. I understand that submitting work generated by another person or by AI etc. is plagiarism or akin to plagiarism, and that violations will be treated accordingly. Signed:_______ (electronic signature)"
Some further things to keep in mind:
- Name the document with your full name and “A1 final” (e.g. Tommy Trojan_A1_Final). It’s not a big deal if you write it out a little differently as long as your name and the assignment number are there in the subject line. See syllabus in case you have other preferred names.
- No need for a title for A1, unless you wish to do so.
- Make sure that your thesis sentence is specific to the case you have chosen (limited in scale, for example, to one deployment of sustainability or one specific product, and not all).
- Keep in mind that the audience for this assignment is professionals within your field and/or the field relevant to your topic.
- Make sure you keep your mind on what is being asked of you: stay focused. Do not, for instance, write a “solutions” paper…which would be answering a related – but different -- prompt.
- Note that you will be attaching a selected bibliography this paper. You may use either the MLA or APA formats, as long as you stick to a single format for a particular assignment.
- Endnotes are optional, as will be discussed in class.
- As always, the assignment will be discussed extensively in class
MY TOPIC: Dilemma (one sentence in the form of one question, as in samples):
Is it right for physicians to prescribe off-label Ozempic for weight loss, while the drug is FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes only and shortages may affect access for diabetic people?
Professional Audience (science or health-sciences based only):
Endocrinologists: they specialize in diabetes managment
Thesis:
Doctors should not prescribe Ozempic off-label for weight loss because it is only FDA-approved for type 2 diabetes, and the high demand for weight loss has already caused drug shortages for patients who need it to control their diabetes. Studies show that semaglutide can help people lose up to 15% of their body weight, lower the risk of heart disease, and even cut future healthcare costs by preventing type 2 diabetes, but these benefits do not outweigh the risks. Off-label use goes against FDA rules, creates possible legal and ethical problems for doctors, and the long-term safety in people without diabetes is still unknown.
Introduction parahraph: backround information and a thesis statement that is around 3 sentences that states which side of the argument im on and also the counter arguments that will be included in the paper
body paragraphs: evidence and analysis/ counterarguments as well
conclusion
I have attached a file with format instructions etc. Let me know if you have any questions!
