Overview
Reflection Question: This week we are focusing on data in healthcare settings. Healthcare big data (the vast amounts of data collected within and across healthcare organizations) is vastly popular for mining and research. When we think of COVID-19, vast amounts of data are being collected in every community, region, and nation. The same is true of heart disease, Alzheimer's Disease, and various cancers. How do you see big data transforming healthcare? Is this transformation for good or for ill, do you think? Would you be concerned with the government using big data for research and accessing personal information?
Application Question: After you have reviewed M2.2 Module Notes, let's apply what you have learned from the materials and credible sources you want to include to converse on the Nelson Data, Information, Knowledge, and Wisdom Model.
- Briefly describe an experience that you or someone you may know has had in the workplace or a healthcare environment. Tell us a story, that focuses on the data that was needed, used, or was not available to meet the needs at the time of the visit. For example, what data did you use from the patient record to provide care? What elements of data were structured? Unstructured?
- Thinking about the DIKW model, where did you see the continuum in the visit? Did you see wisdom as a part of this encounter? How so, or why not?
