Overview
*****Hi, Note. Just write out the discussion prompt for me, and I will do the video. I have attached Gilly page 11. I will post the reply soon. Thanks. ******************
Purpose Change is constant. Whether in business, non-profit, ministry, or our personal lives, change is ever-present and demanding our attention. Fortunately, the theories and concepts of change and change leadership have been studied for decades. Application of the research and findings can assist in managing and improving our professional and personal lives.
Parameters Your discussion will consist of creating a video post. Your video must be made through Studio here in class. Your video should be 5-7 minutes long. Be professional in your video and apply specific findings of your reading at this point in class. You will also reply to at least 1 colleague with a 3-5 minute video response. Your response should be thoughtfully planned and presented. These video posts are considered formal and professional, so confirm your appropriate background. Cameras are to be turned on with no camera distractions.
Initial Video Prompt
Create a video reflecting on a planned change event you experienced in your organization (or a past organization). The goal is to analyze this change event through the lens of change management and to share personal insights and lessons learned.
In your video, address the following:
Overview of the Change Event:
- Describe the nature of the planned change (e.g., digital transformation, restructuring, process improvement, culture shift, leadership change, etc.).
- What was the objective of this change, and how was it communicated to employees and other stakeholders?
Barriers to Change:
- Reflect on the barriers to change (Gilley, pg. 11) and describe any relevant to your organization.
- Were any adjustments or unique approaches taken to address the barriers to change specific to your organization’s context?
Stakeholder Involvement:
- Discuss how different stakeholders (leadership, employees, customers, etc.) were involved in the change process. Was the approach top-down, bottom-up, or a hybrid? How did the involvement or lack of involvement impact the success of the change?
Challenges and Successes:
- What were the most significant challenges during the planned change event (e.g., resistance, communication breakdowns, resource constraints)?
- What were the key factors that contributed to the change's success (or failure)?
Personal Reflection:
- How did you personally respond to the change? Did your perception of the change process evolve? What did you learn about change management from your experience?
Lessons Learned and Recommendations:
- Based on your experience, what recommendations would you offer to other leaders or organizations preparing for similar planned change events?
- Video Reply Prompt
In your video response, compare your organizational change event to your fellow learners' event. Discuss areas of similarities and differences. What did you perceive to be your fellow learner’s most impactful portion of his/her video?
