Email marketing: Final projects

Final Project: Email Campaign Proposal

To complete this assignment, you’ll need to turn in the following by Sunday at 11:59 PM ET:

  1. Your Email Campaign Proposal as a single .docx or .pdf file

Context

It’s time to bring your marketing campaign to life! For the midterm you identified a campaign opportunity for a small or local business; for the final project, you will create a project plan and presentation to convince the business that your email marketing strategy is the solution they need to grow their business and reach larger audiences.

In Week 7, you will create an Email Campaign Proposal, including your plans for an automated email sequence for a specific target segment and an outline of how you’ll analyze and measure campaign success.

In Week 8, you’ll turn your Proposal into a detailed project plan and presentation. This plan will include revised versions of your split test plans and sample emails. You will also share your presentation with your peers in an Async Project Fair.

Steps

  1. Review and integrate feedback from your midterm project before starting the final project.
  2. In a new document, restate the campaign goal.
  3. Select one target segment to focus on for the final project. Then, update your email sequence to include at least 3 emails with triggers.
    1. Demonstrate how you will achieve the campaign goal through emails to one of your target segments. Your outline should include subject lines and calls-to-action. Specify the triggers that will move customers through the sequence.
    2. You do not need to develop complete emails at this time.
  4. Select a campaign software platform, such as ActiveCampaign or HubSpot, to launch your campaign.
    1. Describe how you plan to use the platform for your campaign process.
    2. Refer back to Week 5's Resources for a refresher on automations.
  5. Identify KPIs for evaluating your campaign.
    1. Describe at least two KPIs and your specific plans to assess progress towards the campaign goal.
  6. Draft copy for three emails for your target segment.
    1. Your emails must contain:
    2. A subject line
    3. Body text
    4. A call-to-action

    7. To complete this assignment, you’ll need to turn in the following by Sunday at 11:59 PM ET:
    1. Your Email Campaign Project Plan as a .pptx or .pdf file
    2. Your presentation as an unlisted YouTube link
  7. Context For your final project, you will design a presentation to share your campaign plan with the owners of your chosen business. Your job is to show the business how your email marketing strategy can help them meet their goals. You will pitch your plan to the business by creating a slideshow and a short video of your presentation for them to review.
    • Your project plan slides should be clear, compelling, and contain evidence that will persuade the business to choose you as their email marketer.
    • Your video or voiceover presentation should balance enthusiasm about the business with confidence in your plans.
Be creative, and have fun! Steps
    1. Review and integrate feedback from your Final Project Proposal before starting your Project Plan.
    2. Create or revise at least 3 emails for your proposed email sequence.
      1. Your emails must contain:
      2. A subject line
      3. Body text
      4. A call-to-action
      5. CAN-SPAM compliant features
      6. Graphics (optional)
      7. Links/Attachments (optional)

    3. For one of your emails, design an alternate version for an A/B test.
    4. Create a slideshow presentation (5-10 slides) for your project plan.
      1. Your presentation can use any format, but should address these prompts:
        1. What are your campaign goals? How do they support the business?
        2. Why are targeted emails an effective digital marketing channel for this business?
        3. Why do you want to focus on the target segment you chose?
        4. Which email automation tool will you use to support the campaign, and why?
        5. What KPIs will you use to assess progress towards your goal? Why did you choose these KPIs?
        6. Describe your A/B test. How will you measure results? What do you hope to learn from this test?
        7. Why should the brand go with your ideas?
    5. Record yourself presenting your project plan to the brand, using video or voiceover. (it doesn't have to be a video of you recording yourself; if anything, I can voiceover it or possibly make it into, like, an AI voiceover/robot.)
