Overview
Students will demonstrate an understanding of social welfare and social justice policy implications for the profession of social work and will develop the skills to identify the importance of social work knowledge to social policy development and implementation. To this end, you will complete a policy brief related to a social welfare policy of your choosing. You will complete the policy brief incrementally throughout the semester in preparation for submission of your completed project at the completion of this course.
For this module, you will begin to work on the first section of your policy brief, your Problem Statement/Scope of the problem. Your submission will be a first draft that I will give you feedback on your work. Your submission should include the following:
- You should provide an introduction to your problem, including its current scope and a brief discussion of its history
- You should discuss the impact of your chosen policy issue on a variety of groups, with special attention to given marginalized and otherwise underrepresented groups
- Your submission for this portion of your assignment should be no less than 3 pages (and no greater than 5) and include at least 5 peer reviewed sources.
For this I want my topic to be Medicaid and Mental Health. Those who have trouble receiving Medicaid, may make those more depressed.
