Foundations, Concepts and Principles of Behavior Analysis

Overview

Final Project: Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention Plan

Project Description:

For the final project, students will design a comprehensive behavioral intervention plan based on a real or hypothetical case. The plan must include a detailed assessment of the target behavior, the identified interventions (using reinforcement, punishment, stimulus control, or other principles of behavior analysis), and strategies for data collection and progress monitoring. Ethical considerations and the long-term sustainability of the intervention must be addressed. In addition, the project will include a final presentation of the intervention plan, with the mandatory use of visual aids.

Length Requirement:

8 to 15 pages, double-spaced, in APA format, including references, plus a 10-minute final presentation with visual aids.● Length: 12-15 pages (excluding title page, abstract, and references.● Length: 12-15 pages (excluding title page, abstract, and references).

● Format: APA 7th edition.

● References:

○ Minimum of 10 scholarly citations (JEAB, JABA, Behavior Analysis in Practice,

Verbal Behavior Analysis, etc.)

Required Sections:

1. Title Page and Abstract

a. APA 7th edition format

b. Abstract (150-250 words) summarizing the problem, approach, and expected

results

2. Introduction and Rationale (1-2 pages)

a. Introduce the behavioral concept or intervention approach

b. Explain its relevance to the fundamental principles of behavior analysis

c. State the importance of studying this topic within ABA practice

3. Literature Review (4-5 pages)

a. Synthesize at least 10 scholarly sources (minimum of 5 peer-reviewed empirical

studies)

b. Connect early foundational literature (e.g., Baer et al., 1968) to modern

applications

c. Critically evaluate the strengths, limitations, and trends in the research4. Conceptual and Theoretical Framework (2 pages)

a. Define key behavioral analysis concepts that guide your topic (e.g.,

reinforcement versus punishment, stimulus control, motivating operations)

b. Explain how these principles predict or explain the target behavior

5. Intervention Proposal or Application (2-3 pages)

a. Describe a hypothetical or proposed behavior change program

b. Identify independent/dependent variables and procedures (e.g.,

reinforcement schedule, prompting methods)

c. Integrate ethical and cultural considerations aligned with the BACB Code of Ethics

6. Discussion and Implications (2 pages)

a. Discuss anticipated outcomes or practical results

b. Explain how this work contributes to the understanding of fundamental principles

in the field

7. Conclusion (1 page)

a. Summarize the findings and emphasize future directions for research and

practice.
