Discussion: Students, you are to do the following:
(1) Explain criminal justice from a system perspective in order to appreciate how the American criminal justice system works; (2) Explain the American constitutional arrangement of federalism; (3) Explain the criminal justice system by focusing on the three major components and their authority and relationships in relation to the decision making process for criminal cases; and (4) Explain the role of discretion as a vital component of the functioning of the criminal justice system.
