Overview
This paper should be written in the first person. It is about you and your experience with the world around you. You will select an example of a social situation, relationship or dynamic that wasn’t what it initially appeared to be. You will discuss both your perception and the reality of the situation. Here are some example topics.
Please note that you don’t have to select one of these, but I wanted to get you thinking.
- Your parents’ marriage. Many children perceive their parents’ marriage differently than the reality of it. We often learn things in adulthood that might be very different than our perception.
- A friendship that was based on one of friends using the other for their personal gain.
- A client or vendor at work who behaved differently with you than with your manager.
- Your childhood in a religious organization. How this experience is different from how you live as an adult or from how you raise your children.

Submission Criteria
Write a 3 to 4 page paper where you provide an example in which a personal experience led you to understand social reality inaccurately.
Be sure to include APA formatting when using sources.
