Overview
I propose a twelve paragraph comprehensive summative assessment of Unit 2 that aims to showcase our knowledge and expertise in the subject matter.
Description of the Assignment:
The assignment involves students critically analyzing Unit 2 readings, writing an essay synthesizing key concepts, and applying these concepts to real-world scenarios or case studies. It aims to demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the material and demonstrate the connection between theoretical knowledge and practical application in child welfare practice.
Directions for the Assignment:
1. Carefully read and analyze the assigned readings related to Unit 2. 2. Develop an outline or plan for your essay, highlighting key points, arguments, and examples. 3. The essay should be structured with two paragraphs per module, totaling 10 paragraphs, excluding the introduction and conclusion. 4. Write a well-structured essay that addresses the assigned prompts, incorporating relevant readings, class discussions, and external research if necessary. 5. Ensure clarity and coherence in your writing, abiding by college-level standards of analysis and argumentation.
Rubric:
The assessment will be graded based on the following criteria:
1. Reading Analysis (25%): Depth of understanding, identification of key points, critical analysis of readings. 2. Essay Content (40%): Thoroughness of coverage, clear explanation and understanding of each concept. 3. Organization and Structure (20%): Logical flow of ideas, coherence of arguments, adherence to essay structure (introduction, body, conclusion). 4. Writing Style and Mechanics (15%): Grammar, punctuation, spelling, sentence structure, and adherence to academic writing conventions.
By completing this summative assessment, students will not only demonstrate their mastery of Unit 2 material but also enhance their critical thinking, analytical, and writing skills essential for success in child welfare and related fields.
The rubric will be a guideline but the percentages may vary when we grade. Remember that a paragraph is a minimum of 5 sentences, including a topic sentence, 3 supporting sentences and a transition or conclusion sentence.
I also want to add that if you cannot adequately cover the material of any one module in 2 paragraphs you will need to add paragraphs. Do not hesitate to do so.
