Creating a strong résumé is a crucial component in any successful job search. Your résumé serves as your personal marketing document and will be the first impression your prospective employers have of you. To create a strong résumé, you must first identify the message you want the reader to receive and determine the skills and qualifications you would like to highlight on your résumé. What you highlight is generally based on the position you would like to apply for.
For this assignment, you will explore the components of a strong résumé, reflect on your own career goals, and assess what action steps you can take to make your résumé stronger.In your paper, you must:
- Identify three important aspects of your professional background to include in your professional profile. Why do they stand out for you?
- Determine between four and six core competencies and elaborate on each. Why are they core competencies for you? What about your background demonstrates your expertise in these areas?
- Analyze one job you had (or the job you have currently) and use a C.A.R. statement to explain your role there.
- Evaluate the “Dos” list of “Dos and Don’ts;” what surprised you and why?
- Examine your resume. What needs work? What did you learn from the infographic?
- Create a strategy for yourself toward improving your résumé and explain how you created that strategy.
