GENDER AND MEDIA ANALYSIS PAPER
OVERVIEW:
select one movie, one television show episode, or one music video to write a 5-page double-spaced paper analyzing how gender is portrayed in your selection. Use at least two course readings to help you analyze your media selection.

EXPECTATIONS:
- Your paper should revolve around an original thesis statement, or main argument, that appears in the introduction of the paper.
- Your paper should draw on at least one concept from lectures and/or course readings to help you analyze how gender is portrayed in your selection.

- The body of your paper should provide evidence and analysis to support your original thesis statement.
- Your paper should include a references page using ASA Style (American Sociological Association) where you cite course material used and your movie, show, or video selection.
QUESTIONS TO CONSIDER DURING ANALYSIS:
- How are people of different genders portrayed?
- Does your selection include representations of various genders, or does it reflect a rigid gender binary?
- Does your selection draw on gender stereotypes? If so, does your selection challenge stereotypes, conform to them, or both? How?
- How is gender portrayed visually?
- How is gender portrayed through the story line, script, or lyrics?
- How does gender matter in the social institutions (e.g., family, workplace, schools, media) portrayed in your selection?
