Article three:
- Briefly outline the history of racial classification, as put forth by the author. How has science been instrumental in giving rise to, reinforcing, and legitimizing racism? Be specific and detailed.
Article five:
- The author (pgs. 39-40) says that race is a “…fiction…that has no basis in biology…”, and a “myth.” What does she mean by this? What purpose and function has this fiction and myth served? Hint: Think about power relations, the construction and maintenance of boundaries, and the justification and rationalization of (class) inequality and domination.
