In your readings and related discussions, you have examined the relationship between social work practice and social policy development at the micro, mezzo, and macro levels. Given that the purpose of social work is to promote social, economic, and political justice for all people, there can be no denying that social work is inextricably linked with policy development, implementation, and analysis efforts.
Instructions
In a 3–5 page paper:
- Explain why social workers should be well-informed and skilled in policy development, implementation, and analysis at all levels. Be sure to consider both historical and contemporary references to substantiate your response.
- Consider your leadership skills and preferences at this point in your doctoral program and how you can build and apply the skills necessary to effectively develop, implement, and analyze social welfare policies. To do this, choose a social problem and decide how you can address the problem through policy development and implementation.
- Addressing this social problem, explain how you might analyze contemporary policies and their effectiveness. Make relevant suggestions to improve these policies. Again, be sure to use relevant literature to support your views.
